WIDE SIGNAL – Only as wide as the places it reaches

ECHOVOLVE  ·  Application, Build, and Execution

In Creator Mode this week I told the story of a season where I had everything riding on one conversation — one relationship, one opportunity — and what the silence from that one thing was costing me. In Peak Praxis I went deeper into why the single-frequency trap is so persistent — the belief underneath it, and the four-step process for expanding deliberately without scattering what makes the signal yours. This post is the application of both. You are not reading about the expansion here. You are doing it. And when you finish, your signal will be reaching one place it wasn't reaching before you sat down.

What the single-frequency trap costs when you're building from what you know.

Stop Being a Secret requires more than one place where you can be found. You cannot be found where your signal doesn't reach. And if your signal is concentrated in one relationship, one context, one way of showing what you know — then every time that one thing gets quiet, you are reading silence from one place as a verdict on everything.

It isn't. One data point from one frequency is one data point. The person who needed what you know and found it through a completely different context — the conversation you had in passing, the relationship you almost didn't pursue, the way of sharing your expertise that felt unfamiliar — that person is not available to you from a single frequency. The reach has to go where they are.

The signal audit is the practice that makes this visible. Not as a strategy document — as a real-time map of where you are and where you aren't. And there is almost always one place where you aren't that you know you should be.

The result you're looking for doesn't always come from the place you most expect it. But it can only find you where your signal reaches.

The workshop — do this now, leave with one new contact point activated.

Open a blank document alongside this one. You are going to map your current signal and activate one new contact point before you close this tab. Follow the steps in order.

Step 1 — Run the signal audit.

Write down every place your signal currently reaches — every relationship context, every kind of conversation, every way that people currently encounter what you know. Be specific. Name the actual contexts. Most people, when they do this honestly, discover two things: there are fewer than they thought, and most of them are concentrated in one or two places. Write the full list, then circle where you spend the most time and energy.

Step 2 — Name the avoided context.

Look at your audit and ask: where am I not showing up that I know I should be? Not vaguely — specifically. The kind of conversation you keep telling yourself you'll start having. The relationship context where the people who need what you know are gathered, and where you've been absent. The way of sharing your expertise that feels unfamiliar or exposing. Write it down. One specific context. That avoidance is almost always pointing directly at where the most untapped signal lives.

Step 3 — Take the Signal Calibration Scorecard.

Before you activate the new contact point, take three minutes to know where your signal stands right now. The Scorecard tells you exactly where what you know is landing clearly — and where something is getting distorted between your expertise and the people who need it. This tells you what to strengthen before you expand. Take it at creator-mode-story.ghost.io/assessment and write down your result.

Step 4 — Activate the new contact point. Today.

Based on what you named in Step 2 — make one move in that direction today. Not a plan for it. Not a note to come back to it. One specific action: initiate one conversation in the avoided context, share something you know with one person in that relationship type, show up once in the way you've been telling yourself you'll start showing up. Small is fine. The first signal sent into a new context is the one that breaks the single-frequency pattern. Send it before this tab closes.

What you just did is what signal expansion looks like in practice. One new contact point activated. One place where your signal reaches that it didn't reach before you sat down. Do this consistently — one new context added every thirty days, held long enough to generate real data — and the picture of where your signal lands becomes richer, more specific, and far more useful than anything a single frequency can show you.
